Floating Rectangles
(2009-2013)
The Rete-Chromes in this section feature modified rectangular shapes that appear to float over an image and/or in mid-space. Many of these Rete-Chromes were created as suites for specific sites. The first such group was for an installation at an original Carnegie Public Library (in Ashland, MA), in which I celebrated the sharing of knowledge and communication of ideas by using rectilinear shapes based on book page sizes – folio, full, half, and quarter with post-it-note size squares added to the size/shape vocabulary. In a later installation at Regis College, I created a series of seven Rete-Chromes – running from floor to ceiling – spanning the rainbow. For Medical facilities in NH and MA I worked with the same floating rectangle dimensions together with colors from the specific environments.
